I just sorted through thousands of Lillian's photos and videos to make sense of her first year of life in a video slide show. Originally I wanted to make one video; but it turns out I have so many pictures that one video would have been about 2 hours. While I would love to watch that over and over again, my family might pull their hair out!
I split the videos up into three different ones. Picking the pictures and movies were hard enough. Once I had my pics and vids in place, I realized I had to pick music! Oh geez...
Now, maybe your not really a music person and you just go with whatever. I am the type that needs the music and lyrics and beat to match the theme. It took me weeks to pic out music for my wedding. How would I create a playlist for my babies slide show we would watch for years to come?!
This was a project that had me a frazzled mess for the last few days. Once I start something I am set to finish it. The perfectionist in me wanted them, we'll, perfect. But I had a plane to catch at about 6am this morning, so last night I closed shop and decided to be happy with what I had. I now have 3 sweet videos to share with my family this week of the last 10 months of my daughters growth- from newborn out of the womb to my silly play partner today! I love that so many of the pics and videos have meaning and family in them. We are so fortunate with modern technology!!
Here I share my ideas on choosing song for your babies first video. I will also list the songs I actually picked- maybe they will be songs that you will love, too!
1. I picked lullabies and songs we listened to since she was born.
I naturally had some songs picked out that reminded me of Lillian from day one. We watched Yo Gabba Gabba together frequently, and I had a couple darling songs that I have sung hundreds of times to her in mind. I also thought of CD's I played in her nursery. These songs were perfect for the video because they remind me of her and our special moments together.
2. Family tradition songs
At your families gathering are there albums played consistently? For me, George Strait and some Spanish songs come to mind. I chose a Mexican traditional song to throw in there- De Colores, because it reminds me of my childhood!
3. Special songs shared between you and/ or your hubby
I also thought of songs that my husband and I love and have memories attached to. These songs for us included Miracle by Foo Fighters, a couple Mumford and Sons songs, and some Ben Harper and Bob Marley tunes.
After reflecting on these three things, I made a decent playlist that included many artists I love, some off the beaten path songs, and lullabies I have grown to love.
Here is my playlist of baby video songs! Feel free to share some of your favorites- and good luck if you are embarking on the project of making home videos;)!
